Holes in your Roanoke deck or eaves? Learn how to identify carpenter bee activity and what to do before treating. Free inspections from Mill Mountain. Carpenter bees and other bees have different nesting behavior, so a photo taken from a safe distance is more useful than assuming every flying insect needs the same treatment.
Describe the location
Note whether activity is concentrated at holes in exposed wood, how high the area is and whether people regularly pass nearby. Do not climb to inspect an active location or apply products where identification is uncertain.
Discuss a targeted approach
Virginia Cooperative Extension guidance stresses care around pollinators when treating carpenter bees. Mill Mountain lists carpenter bee treatments and wasp and hornet removal. Request an inspection to discuss the insect involved, the access needed and the appropriate work for your property.
